How to put emo hair in a bun?

I love the emo/scene style, though i wouldn't call myself emo...i don't think...but i really do want to get a bunch of layers in my hair. only problem is that i am a ballerina and am required to put my hair into a neat and orderly bun. Does anyone know how to create a bun with layered hair?
